The first coins in the Nordic region
Two hoards from Gotland and Öland are on display in this case. They include some of the first coins to arrive in Sweden: Roman gold coins (solidi, 1) and silver coins (denarii, 9). The oldest are almost 2,000 years old. People in the Nordic region valued coins highly and they were important status objects.
